As the Holbeach Vintage Rally establishes itself further year-on-year at its new site at the junction of Hurdletree Bank and Fen Road, we are gradually expanding the show to the far edge of the field and incorporating more and more exhibits into the show. This year’s theme was Iron Wheels and Tracks which with some artistic licence incorporated modern rubber-tracked John Deere & Cat tractors alongside a wide variety of older agricultural and horticultural equipment. The Doddington Vintage Rally returned in 2010 after a year’s absence with pretty much the same layout that seemed to work back in 2007. Unfortunately, we could only attend on Saturday because we’d already booked Euston Rural PasTimes for Sunday before we knew Doddington was back on. Exhibitor attendances didn’t appear to have suffered too much from a year’s break and for a Saturday, there was a commendable attendance of punters. We’d booked the 19th Euston Rural PasTimes show for Sunday before we knew Doddington was back up and running again for 2010, but with the added attraction of heavy horses and top-drawer classic and vintage cars to look at here, we do like the Euston event so decided to do both. Unfortunately, the wife’s electric scooter conked out on the day and had to be recovered from across the showfield back “home” to the engine lines.
