Welcome to Fens Vintage Image Montage

Our policy is to feature events we visit as exhibitors and occasionally as visitors, and report independently in words and pictures. We do not organise events ourselves, and do not endorse, feature or advertise shows that we do not attend. Our 2017 calendar is pretty similar to the last couple of years, however, we may not get to Carrington in May but expect to cover Holbeach & Parson Drove this year which we missed in 2016 due to family commitments at the time, and are also covering Northants Model-X in April.

Little Downham Bygone & Organ Extravaganza The 25th Anniversary Bygone & Organ Extravaganza at Little Downham Village Centre (Hall) near Ely, Cambridgeshire, enjoyed lovely sunshine and good weather on Saturday 25th March. There was a bit of a change this year as the grass paddock previously used for the tractors, stationary engines and exhibitor parking has been redeveloped in the intervening 12 months with two pair of semi-detached bungalows, so the agricultural contingent moved to the grass area in front of the Feoffees Primary School just a few yards up the road. In all, there were approximately 14 tractors including a pair of Bristols (keep it clean), Farmalls, Nuffields, Fergies, John Deere & Allis Chalmers machines, plus a trio of stationary engines, John Deere, Bamford & Ruston Hornsby, supported...  More/Images > > >

Newark Tractor Show I thought that the organisers and stewards of the 2016 Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show had made that bit extra effort this year and the show layout was less haphazard than previous years, and the newly refurbished and extended Lady Eastwood Pavilion was a great new light & airy asset. Now this building's back in commission, things moved around a little and in general I thought everything slotted into place very well. The Lady Eastwood building housed all the NVTEC Club displays with trade stands around the perimeter as in previous years. Our own East Anglia Groups stand was to the fore with a simpler set-up than last year, with thanks to Matt who organised it largely on his own. There was a total of seven tractors on display plus four stationary engines and a collection of cast-iron implement seats. The tractors included an International B250 being raffled to raise...  More/Images > > >

Little Casterton Working Weekend The 2016 Little Casterton Working Weekend was back on the farm side, which most people seem to prefer, and from our spot on the stationary engine line you can pretty see much of what's going on apart from some of the harvesting and steam ploughing. The engine line-up this year didn't have quite so many big stationary engines but a number of new exhibitors with original-condition mid-size engines swelled the numbers and most were in original un-painted condition, and of the rest, generally the paint was of an older nature and blended in. One of the rarest engines to be seen was the Perin-Panhard but under the owner's hands, it seemed reluctant to run for any length of time. The main working demonstrations were arranged in a long line down the centre valley of the field and I thought...  More/Images > > >
