Welcome to Fens Vintage Image Montage

Our policy is to feature events we visit as exhibitors and occasionally as visitors, and report independently in words and pictures. We do not organise events ourselves, and do not endorse, feature or advertise shows that we do not attend. Our 2014 calendar remains pretty much the same as 2013 but we will definitely be at Little Downham this year but this does mean the East of England Vintage & Heritage Spectacular will be a Sunday only visit, We hope to be back at Rackheath Vintage Fayre and Carrington in May and possibly the Essex Country Show at Barleylands in September.

Let’s hope for a successful dry rally season for 2014.

Holbeach Town & Country Fayre The 2014 Holbeach Town & Country Fayre has outgrown the old field along Hurdletree Bank so has moved to another much larger field just around the corner a little further down Fen Road towards Saturday Bridge, the venue again provided courtesy of Ashley King. This made the event much more visible to passing motorists and when I came back from Holbeach town Saturday evening, certainly looked like a large show of substance. This I think is the fourth site for the rally, starting as it did in Carters Park before moving to the Old Golf Course before Hurdletree Bank. The field itself doesn’t appear to have been laid down long to grass but the only issue was a deep furrow running down...  More/Images > > >

Euston Rural PasTimes The 23rd Euston Rural PasTimes was a much warmer affair than in 2013 when we practically shivered on the engine line, with bright sunny temperatures bringing out the people in their summer clothes to the Duke of Grafton’s estate just south of Thetford. No changes to the layout apart from the vehicle entrance to the engine compound which yours truly completely missed so had to backtrack to get in. Like one or two other exhibitors this year, we seem to be suffering from a lack of sparks so substitute engines were duly dragged out for an airing. My standin, the Wolseley WDI has, touch wood, been pretty much faultless once its up and running but does seem to want to flood when starting up, so once it’s fired, off with the petrol, let the carb half empty, then back on...  More/Images > > >

Woolpit Steam Show Woolpit Steam, my favourite small rally of the year, was held at Warren Farm, Wetherden on 31 May & 1 June 2014. This superb little show always generates a lot of income for benefiting organisations and last year was another record landmark year with the programme advising donations totalling £16,500 in 2013. The show is always very well supported by exhibitors and public alike and new for 2014, additional grass car-parking has now been made available to cope with the influx of visitors. This has the added benefit of its own exit as well, and is always worth a scout around for visitors’ classic cars which again we’ve included within the photos in this section. Since Sir John Agnew’s death a few years back, the number of larger military trucks attending has fallen as he...  More/Images > > >
