The weekend of 12th-13th November was very mild for the time of year and I feel the show benefited from a lot more and wider variety of trade stands because of it. Featured marque this year was John Deere incorporating Lanz who John Deere took over in the 1950s, but I was disappointed with the lack of machinery as opposed to tractors on show, given the prolific output of the John Deere company. Perhaps the cramped marquee last year, which was then filled to capacity with David Brown & Case, had put people off but this year there was loads of space...

The 2011 Ramsey Country Fayre & Plough Sunday was a much better event than that held in 2010, due mainly to fine and dry weather, but unfortunately, the situation didn’t improve for the stationary engine men. There were tractors aplenty ploughing, a reasonable turn-out of classic cars and stalls, together with several bygones & model displays mixed in with the bric-a-brac stalls. However, for the stationary engine exhibitors who I think are now the hard-core following for this event, we could only get three engines along the front of the display where in the past...

The 2011 Little Casterton Working Weekend’s main highlight was the trio of three Sawyer-Massey tractors together working in the same field, another was the fleeting appearance of the Samson Sieve-Grip working for a few hours on Sunday, as was the Heider 12-20 and a few other singe-day attendees. Harvesting took place using the massive Case prairie-style combine, as well as the Massey Harris self-propelled and International trailed harvesters.
